Producers
GVFI has built up long-standing relationships with its suppliers around the globe. Due to regular exchanges and mutual visits, our specialists understand the whole process and can provide our customers with the best possible advice about all options.
Environmental protection
Our work has a direct impact on the environment. Emissions are generated in the agricultural sector where the animals are kept and fed as well as during the process of transporting the meat to Switzerland. Our global network and large volumes mean that our suppliers can sell almost 100% of the live weight of an animal. This keeps food waste to an absolute minimum. In an effort to reduce emissions as much as possible, we constantly investigate new ways and technologies for transporting meat to Switzerland. Until we have found a viable permanent solution, we offer our customers the option of neutralising the CO2 emissions caused during transport.
Working conditions
In addition to animal welfare and environmental protection, we also take account of social aspects. Since 2013, GVFI has requested suppliers to conduct a regular social audit who in accordance with the BSCI amfori standard produce in risk countries. Auditors check whether employees are paid appropriately, the working environment is healthy and safe, and – of particular importance – that no children are employed. Since GVFI has been talking to its clients about carrying out social audits, various companies have already decided to have one conducted.
Lamb products
Due to the diversity of breeds, we can offer loin cuts and racks in different sizes. We can also deliver the required volumes of traditional leg of lamb and extremely tender lamb fillets.
